Vegan Hollandaise Sauce


1 cup raw cashew nuts
1/4 cup nutritional yeast
1tsp white wine vinegar
2 tbsp lemon juice
1 cup water
1 tbsp American mustard
1/2 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste


  1. Soak the cashews in boiling water for one hour. Then drain them.

  2. In a blender, combine the soaked cashews; the nutritional yeast; lemon juice; vinegar; water; turmeric; paprika; mustard; garlic powder; salt and pepper, and blend until smooth.

  3. On the stove, place a heat-safe dish over a pot with a couple of inches of boiling water in the bottom and add the sauce mixture to the heat-safe bowl. Let it heat slowly above the boiling water, stirring all the while. It doesn’t need to get hot, but it should thicken a little as it warms.

  4. Once it’s warmed through, just serve it up, et voila!
